Pandemic Diaries - March 16, 2020

Everyone is feeling weighted down. We’ve got the family bolted in, emotions are charged because routines are upset. TV and social media are pelleting us with negative news and hoax text messages. And, now the market has dropped again, and Bed Bath & Beyond price gouged me this morning over a thermometer. No one knows when this will be over and it’s overwhelming.

I find myself looking ways to find light in this time:

- Find the 5 things you’re grateful for today.

- Stop holding your breath. Take deep breaths and exhale. Stretch.

- There are excellent guided meditations online and soothing music videos and playlists. Be selective about how you fill your space.

- Don’t hoard. Leave that extra bottle or box for someone else. Take as much as you need, not what you want.

- And, if you did grab a lot, don’t be afraid to share. There will be enough for all.

- It’s not about China or Italy or “Us versus Them” and it’s no one’s "fault." Remember that we all looked at the same full moon last week. We have another one in April we will be sharing.

- Spring is coming. It always does.

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” (Albus Dumbledore) - JK Rowling
